A Sentimental Celebration with Elevated Style
Nicoletta and Grayson’s elegant backyard wedding in Tarrytown, Austin was nothing short of extraordinary. Blending family history with thoughtful design, their day felt like the perfect balance of heartfelt tradition and elegant celebration. They began their marriage in Nico’s childhood church, surrounded by those who had watched her grow up—and then continued the celebration with a stunning reception in her family’s backyard.

As someone who captures a lot of weddings, this one stood out in the most beautiful way. Every detail was personal. Every moment felt intentional. And somehow, the whole day unfolded with the kind of calm and warmth that you just don’t see every weekend.

Getting Ready in the Home She Grew Up In
Nico began the day in her childhood bedroom, getting ready in the very home where she had spent so many chapters of her life. That alone made the experience incredibly special. She slipped into her gown in her mother’s room—a quiet, meaningful space that made the moment feel all the more tender.

Before the ceremony, she and Grayson shared private vows at the church. No audience, no distractions. Just the two of them exchanging words they’ll carry into their life together. These quiet moments are often the most powerful—and they were a beautiful reminder that weddings aren’t just about the party. They’re about the meaning behind it all.

A Backyard Wedding Like You’ve Never Seen
After the ceremony, guests were welcomed into what used to be the family’s backyard pool—now completely transformed into a breathtaking reception space. A sailcloth tent anchored the scene, draped with romantic lighting and overflowing with lush, oversized florals. It was like stepping into a secret garden party, only more polished, more thoughtful, and yes, far more chic.

The theme? Elevated garden party—and they absolutely nailed it. Every element felt curated yet effortless, from the custom bar setup to the cozy nooks for guests to relax and mingle.
Small details made a big impact:
🍋 Mini bottles of limoncello as a thank-you gift
🥂 Chic passed apps and cocktails served with a smile
💐 Fresh florals that brought color and movement to every table
📖 A soft, layered color palette that echoed the natural beauty of the space
And while the rain briefly showed up, it didn’t dampen a thing. Instead, guests flowed into the house, laughing and gathering close in that cozy, nostalgic way only a home-based wedding can create.

Moments That Made the Day
There were so many tender moments throughout the day, but a few stood out that I’ll remember forever:
– Nico handing her bouquet to her sister as they got into their getaway car
– Her father, moved to happy tears during their sweet dance together
– Guests gathering closely during the reception, enjoying each other’s company like it was the most natural thing in the world
Oh—and one very cool moment? Drew Brees was in attendance. Yes, that Drew Brees. Related to Nico, he celebrated alongside them, making the day feel even more unforgettable for guests who may have done a few double takes!

From the people to the place to the design, everything felt personal. It didn’t matter that it rained, or that it wasn’t held at a traditional venue. In fact, that’s what made it so remarkable—it was theirs.
Weddings Like This Are Why I Do What I Do

As an Austin wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of documenting celebrations big and small, extravagant and intimate. But this backyard wedding in Tarrytown captured something rare: legacy.
When a couple chooses to get married at home—especially a home filled with memories, like Nico’s childhood house—it adds a layer of depth and heart that no venue can replicate. Every room tells a story. Every space means something. And when that history is paired with elevated, intentional design, the result is breathtaking.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels just as personal—whether that’s a backyard garden party or an elegant event in a place that holds meaning—I’d love to help tell your story. With an eye for timeless portraits and a heart for candid connection, I’m here to capture your day exactly as it unfolds: joy, tears, and all.
