Villa Balbiano Lake Como Wedding

A Destination Wedding Dream Come True

Alexis and Chase’s Lake Como wedding at Villa Balbiano was the kind of weekend that belongs in a movie. Every detail, every location, and every moment felt like a love letter to elegance, intimacy, and Italian charm. From the quiet cobblestone strolls of Cernobbio to their stunning ceremony at one of the most iconic villas in Italy, it was a wedding weekend to remember—for them, their guests, and for me, behind the lens.

As an Austin-based wedding photographer who adores travel, I can confidently say: this was one for the books.

Pre-Wedding Magic in Cernobbio

Before the big day even began, I joined Alexis and Chase at the Sheraton Hotel in Cernobbio, where they were staying. The night-before vibes were warm, relaxed, and filled with anticipation. We captured some gorgeous moments of them wandering through the charming town streets—so European, so cinematic—and snapped a few editorial shots before they headed off to a Michelin-starred dinner.

These pre-wedding moments are always some of my favorites. There’s a quietness to them that contrasts so beautifully with the celebration to come. You can see the excitement in their eyes, and it makes the whole story feel that much more complete.

Wedding Day at Villa Balbiano

Now onto the main event: the Villa Balbiano wedding itself. If you’re familiar with Lake Como, you know Villa Balbiano is one of its crown jewels. And if you’re not—imagine grand architecture, lakeside views, and enough Italian elegance to make your heart skip a beat.

We started the morning with some bridal swim-style portraits of Alexis at both the indoor and outdoor pools. It was effortless, fun, and such a fresh take on getting ready imagery. Afterward, she got dressed in the upstairs bridal suite while Chase waited in the stately stone foyer below.

The ceremony itself was held on the grand lawn, just outside the villa. Guests looked on as Alexis walked down the long green aisle toward Chase, who stood inside by the arches, watching her from within the villa’s historic walls. It was romantic, reverent, and unforgettable.

As they exchanged vows, ferry boats and private vessels passed by on the lake—locals and tourists alike waving and cheering for the newlyweds. It was one of those surreal, magical moments that only Lake Como could deliver.

Couples Portraits, Cake, and Champagne

After the ceremony, we explored the Villa Balbiano property for some editorial-style couple portraits. The villa’s front courtyard (yes, the iconic façade) and gardens made every frame feel timeless.

Later, they cut their cake and popped champagne right by the water—yes, it was just as dreamy as it sounds. The celebration was intimate, but nothing about it felt small. In fact, it was grand in the most intentional and heartfelt ways.

Luxury Boat Exit to Il Gatto Nero

Of course, no Lake Como wedding would be complete without a boat ride. Alexis and Chase hopped into a luxurious wooden boat after the reception and set off across the lake. I followed them in a second wooden boat to capture the entire ride—sunset light, wind in her veil, the whole vibe.

They docked back in Cernobbio and made their way to Il Gatto Nero, a cliffside restaurant known for its views… and its famous guests (yes, George Clooney is a fan). Alexis and Chase had rented out a private room for dinner—just the two of them. It was quiet, romantic, and the perfect ending to an already incredible day.

The Day After at Grand Hotel Tremezzo

But wait—it didn’t end there. The next day, we met up again at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, where we captured some relaxed yet elevated day-after portraits. Think lakeside luxury meets editorial fashion. These sessions are always such a fun way to soak up those last little moments before real life sets back in.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding weekend that’s filled with intention, adventure, and editorial-level beauty, a destination wedding might be your perfect fit. Whether it’s Lake Como, the Amalfi Coast, or somewhere a little closer to home, I’m here to help bring your vision to life through timeless, story-driven photography.

Your wedding deserves to feel like you—and that includes breathtaking locations, quiet in-between moments, and champagne-popping joy. If that’s the vibe you’re going for, let’s make it happen. I’d love to help you tell your story.
